Our Story

Our clothing is designed in Byron bay and hand made with love in Nepal.

We want you to feel good about wearing clothing that is healthy for your body and mind.

After travelling to Nepal in 2018 we fell completely in love with everything about Himalayan Hemp and Wild

grown Nettle.

The texture, the color, the way it feels on the skin....

What we buy has a direct impact on our bodies and the world around us. We want to change the paradigm and

create timeless and elegant clothing to last a lifetime that does not just end up in landfill.

Through this, a vision to create a collection of clothing and accessories that supports the health of ourselves and

for Mother Earth was born...

We choose to work with highest quality plant-based materials; luxury hand woven Hemp, hand loomed Nettle

and GOTS Certified Organic Cotton.

We will continue to expand our range of Garments that are made for comfort, longevity, for durability, and

completely biodegradable to leave the lightest possible footprint.

At Hemp & Nettle we strongly believe in supporting the industries of Hemp and Wild Nettle farming as these

plants give back and leave the soil and surroundings better than before.

We are nature, let us live in harmony.

Sustainability and Ethics

Our Climate is changing and all living beings are feeling the effects...

From our farms to our manufacturing and packaging everything at Hemp & Nettle has been carefully

considered to minimise the negative impacts the fashion industry typically has on our planet. Why can’t this

impact be a positive one?

Not only are our fabrics soft to wear, they are also soft on the earth.

We respect people as much as we respect the planet

All our Hemp and Nettle pieces are made in small batches, by our small team in Nepal.

All our garments have been botanically dyed by hand. This means no chemicals have been used. This is a much

safer process for the staff, the planet, and the people wearing the garments.

This process takes time and skill and is a longer process than if chemicals were used.

There is a lot of care going into each piece of clothing.

Hemp can be an environmental savior as it doesn't require much to grow a bountiful crop. It requires little

water, there are no pesticides or herbicides used to grow it, the plant regenerates and aerates the soil beneath

with each growth cycle and it absorbs more carbon dioxide than trees!! A carbon-negative friendly helper.

Himalayan nettle is the longest fiber currently known to mankind and is considered finer, stronger, and more

elastic than linen.

Often people feel protected, and connected back to nature when wearing Nettle. It holds a special resonance

that we have not found in any other textile. Its earthy colour comes naturally due to the age at when the nettle

was harvested so often there is a blend of dark and light between each piece, therefore each piece is unique.

This cardigan is hand crafted by our talented team of women in the remote villages of Nepal.

100% Organic wild grown Himalayan Nettle

Hand spun yarn

Sustainably sourced

Antimicrobial, antibacterial and fire retardant

High tensile strength and a loft similar to that of cotton

Nettle fibre is extremely absorbent

Perfect weight / transeasonal

More environmentally friendly than cotton

Breathable, hypoallergenic, naturally moisture-wicking and odour resistant

The fiber is not just sustainable; it actually improves the environment in which it grows by helping to control

erosion and preventing deadly landslides

Elegant, fine and durable
